E Safety

Children today have embraced new technologies as a source of information, education and entertainment. The use of digital technology has been completely normalised by this generation, and it is now fully integrated into their daily lives.

Technology is changing all of the time and at a rapid speed. Children can access the Internet from a young age and in an ever growing number of ways. Their confidence and skills in using this technology is typically high, but their knowledge and awareness of the inherent issues, risks and dangers can make them vulnerable. We aim to encourage our pupils to be safe and confident users of technology who know and demonstrate how to stay safe when online at school, at home and in the community.

We use Light speed Filtering to filter the internet in school. Through our Computing and PHSE curriculums, we teach pupils how to navigate the internet whilst keeping safe. This isn’t just a top down approach - children and young people need to be empowered to keep themselves safe. At Caldecote School, we encourage our pupils to discuss any concerns that they may have both confidently and openly as they navigate the digital world.

Teaching your child about technology should be seen as another part of keeping them safe, just like crossing the road or learning to swim. Online safety skills are skills for life. We aim to work together, teachers, parents and pupils.
