School Council & Eco Team
Caldecote has an active School and Eco Council, comprising of two representatives from each year group (elected by their classmates). The children meet each half term; they share the responsibility with the adults in running the meeting and taking notes. Minutes are displayed on the Community board and distributed to the children who then feed back to their classes. Before meetings, children have the chance to hold class discussions where suggestions, ideas and questions are put forward on ways to make our School be the best it can be. This provides an excellent opportunity for all children to have a say. The School Council is also responsible for selecting the charity we support each year as a whole school. They are also invited to speak at our weekly whole school assembly.
Caldecote holds a ‘Green Flag Award’ and is part of Eco-Schools, a global initiative that provides a unique opportunity that empowers pupils to lead change within their school and have a positive impact in their wider community. This programme encourages pupils of all ages and abilities to work together to develop their knowledge and environmental awareness.
There is representation from parents, governors and senior management on the Eco Council.
Over the course of the school year our council representatives will help to arrange and take part in a variety of events – cake sales, Christmas Fair, summer talent show, Community Clear Up and Waste Free lunch week.
